i think nursing is the best bang for your buck in terms of tuition/salary. Plus, there are a variety of nursing careers within the field. Radiation therapist also sounds like a really good bang for your buck career, as well.

Also, what therapy do you practice? And how do you like it?

If you start one pathway is it hard to get into another? For example if I start in orthopedic but the go into sports?

When I was recoverying from an injury, the PT assessed me and told me what the focus of the plan of care would be and then passed me off to a PTA-kinesiologist who then told me the focus was different than what the PT told me. The PTA started changing the plan of care as if she were in charge of designing it but did not fully understand the impact of my injuries and had very little clinical understanding, so her plan modifications were not right for me. The confusion of communications between them and excluding me was problematic, so I quit physiotherapy. From hereon, I will only work with directly with a physiotherapist.

I've observed in both a geriatric/neurology inpatient rehab facility as well as pediatrics, and I've enjoyed both these settings! I think I'll end up specializing in either pediatrics or pelvic floor. Or I could do both!

When I visited a physio clinic, I was shocked that all their kinesiologists were obese and unfit, particularly as they know how to exercise and have easy access to exercise equipment I would expect otherwise.

PTA programs are typically 3-4 years when you factor in the prerequisites :).

I’m so torn even after talking to tons and tons of PTs and PTAs and getting all the different views, points, perspectives, and information. I would love to have the education of a DPT and to really fully understand and grasp physical therapy but at the same time the amount of debt and also the paperwork/documentation kind of sways me more towards pta. I also love being hands on with patients.

Why I would never be a good PT? Because I would never want to spend more on my education than my starting salary. 70-80k a year sucks! I can make a better living in many professions and spend less money getting there…

I'm a PTA but I have a vast knowledge of the human body beyond physical therapy and I've always had a desire to help people heal, I designed a facility that encompasses spiritual, mental, emotional and physical therapies providing a full-body healing experience. I kept trying to get "in network" but God keeps redirecting me because I truly focus on the root issue with my patients. I go as far as getting their bloodwork and designing a program that truly heals them....far beyond simply physical therapy. I'm just struggling with the faith to go full blown cash based but this video catapulted that faith for sure! Thank you so much again be blessed 🙏
